"Papier colle" are the French words for "glued paper". In art, the term refers to a collage that is done on a canvas or other ground and is made with layers of paper. Picasso and Braque invented this art form in about 1911. Matisse was extremely fond of the technique and used it in order to give his works an intensity of color. |
