Al Lachman

Al Lachman became an artist “Because it fills my soul.” Lachman believes that art encompasses everything in life. The creative process of being an artist allows Lachman the chance to control life, if only for a moment. An “emotional” painter. Lachman paints what he feels, not necessarily what he sees. Says the artist, “The emotion that passes between the painting and the viewer is what’s important”

Lachman attended the Art Students League in NYC; the School of Visual Arts in NYC; and Syracuse University in NYC . He has conducted painting workshops internationally. He was the first American artist to be invited by The Pastel Society of Canada to conduct a private workshop for its members. In addition, he has served as a Director on the Board of Control of the Pastel Society of America. He is also one of the founders and first instructors of the P.S.A. School for Pastels Only at the National Arts Club in NY C, the only one of its kind in the United States.

The artist has won numerous awards, and has participated many group and solo exhibitions. His works appear in such museum collections as the Tampa Museum of Art, FL; the Central Library of Denver, CO; Middlesex County Museum, NJ; Hermitage Foundation Museum, Norfolk, VA; Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT; and many more.

In addition, his works are represented in thousands of private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and South America, including The Walt Disney Corporate Collection; the University of Georgia Law School; Detroit Tigers Corporate Collection; The Hershey Corporation; Ford Motor Company; and many more.
