Adam Finli's upbringing offers a unique element to his work. He was raised on an estate in South Africa. He spent much of his time learning woodworking techniques, primarily traditional wooden masks. His father ha d a government position which allowed him the opportunity to travel to Italy, Germany, France and England from the ages of fifteen to seventeen. This exposure impacted Adam greatly.
When the family first arrived in Italy, Adam's father focused on teaching him the basics of painting at the age of eleven. He has been consistently painting in a figurative style since then. The richness of culture and exposure to the museums and architecture offers subtleties to his work today. Adam was recognized at an early age for his skill and depth as a painter. The family continued to travel until Adam returned to Atlanta to attend the Atlanta College of Art. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts and has been painting full-time since then. He has settled in the Atlanta area. He likes the mixture of cultures and people in the United States, though he feels people don't pay attention to what's important as much. He is now twenty-two years old and has been painting most of his life. His work has a maturity beyond his years and is already collected nationally and internationally.
