Alexis England lives in Dutchess County New York, working out of her farmhouse studio. She studied at the Art Students League in New York City and attended the New York Academy of Fine Arts. Working in oils she has been described as a painter’s painter, with a keen sensibility for value and color.
Her childhood years spent in the English countryside and the place she now calls home inform her subject matter these days. Though her style is built on loose gesture and field, her commissioned portraits capture remarkable likeness and subtleties. In March 2004 issue of Country and Abroad it was noted that “Animal portraits… her specialty, almost sing on their canvases – she is able to render animal love and liveliness in a way that their owners will treasure forever.”
